Blue Sky Tag- 11 Questions

This is a first!  I’ve done “What’s in your handbag” and “What’s your beauty routine” Snapchat tags.  But I’ve never done a blogger tag.  This one is called “Blue Sky-11 questions”.  It’s a wonderful way to get to know other bloggers, to connect through this fun game, and to share our love for blogs we read regularly.

I am not sure who started it, but I do know who tagged me. Joanne Coughlan of Lipsticknleopardprint is one of my fav people ever. We are friends on social media who were lucky enough to have met in person last year at the Cloggers Blogger event.  She was also one of the guest bloggers on my Month of LOVE series.   Here is the link to the post of her Blue Sky 11 questions.  Have a read of her awesome answers.  And give her a follow if you love beauty, makeup, fashion or you just want an all around positive lovely blogger on your daily feed!  She is a mommy to twin girls who recently turned four years old.   Joanne and her family live in gorgeous County Cork, Ireland.

Thank you Joanne for including me in this, for your kind words, and mostly for being an awesome friend! xoxox

Tell me your three desert island beauty products? Since I am a chef, not a beauty blogger, MY products arsenal is usually related to herbs and spices ! But to answer the question, I have very sensitive skin and have been using Dermalogica products on my face for years. They just work, so why change? Hence the special cleansing gel, the intensive moisture balance lotion and the intensive eye repair cream would have to come along. However, I am Irish, so with my pale skin, I would definitely need some sunscreen! So I’d have to throw in a forth product in the carry on luggage for the desert island.  Neutrogena brand has a nice high SPF waterproof one, and so long as it is under 100ml I’d get through airport security no bother.

Tea or coffee? Defo coffee! Lots!  No sugar but with almond milk if possible. Heart shape always appreciated!

Favourite current song? I’m really into this song called “Beautiful Day” not by U2 (though I love that one too) but by Jamie Grace. Not sure if it is a current song, but it’s been in my head for a few months.  You can’t listen to it without it brightening the day! I dare you, click on the link above and rock out! Oh and enjoy the free smile!

What have you learned from blogging? I’ve learned from blogging that it is a journey, a process like peeling an onion, it’s not a race. For me it is true labor of love because my purpose is to spread LOVE!  And blogging is just another way in which to do that.  When I started the blog I literally wrote seven days a week!  Now I publish on average four times, but if I am traveling, like I am at the moment, it may only be once a week. And that is OK!  I’ve also learned that it is possible to do something, even if it seems very hard, because my purpose is more important.  It isn’t the actually writing (or sharing as I prefer to call it) of the stories that trips me up cuz I love that.  For me it is the technical aspect of blogging that is a massive challenge. At 52 years old I am a techNOT, yet if I waited until I knew how to do this perfectly it might not have ever happened.  I’ve been blogging since August of 2015.  That is time that would have passed anyway, so thanks be to God I jumped in the deep end!  Cuz I have a purpose to fulfill no matter what the obstacles!

What’s one quote you live your life by? “All things work together for good to those who love God” Romans 8:28.  While I am a lover and collector of quotes, this particular one has stood me in good stead. Especially with my life of trials, tribulations, ups and downs.  It is always easier to see in hindsight that this quote is true. But it is also an anchor to hold me while riding through the storms, knowing that eventually it will all be ok!

Favourite budget brand? Well I am a Trader Joe’s aficionado. I wish they had one in Ireland or the UK. They make and sell their own brand of items ranging from food to facial tissue. And they have a great wine selection, famous for Two Buck Chuck. I did a whole Foodie Fieldtrip Friday to one of their many stores, which are located across the USA.

What’s your favourite flower? I love all flowers so it is hard to choose, but if I had to say one it would be a rose. Though all roses are gorgeous, sterling silver roses are the most stunning. They are a bit rare to find but are a gorgeous lavender color and so pretty!

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you chose? No brainer…that is my soul home Ireland! After my husband recovered from his brain tumor operation in 2008 we asked ourselves that very question. And in April of that year we moved lock, stock and barrel to Dublin and have never looked back.  However it is hard for me at the moment as we are temporarily living in London. I like it there but do miss our home in Dublin. So fingers crossed we will be back home soon!

How would you spend your most perfect day? Anywhere doing anything, so long as it is with my entire family!  That has happened very rarely in the past ten years. But for my 50th birthday my hubby kindly organized a trip for all the family to meet in Austin, Texas. It was over Thanksgiving so there was lots of food and fun!  It was an incredible four days with hubby, both my kids, their spouses, and my granddaughter.   Now there is another granddaughter so I pray we do it again before I die.  It is hard, all of us living in different time zones. Until then I’ll savor the memories of that most perfect weekend we had together!

What’s your favourite perfume? I love perfume but it doesn’t love me! I am allergic to most and end up sneezing non stop!  But I love it on other people.  My daughter used to wear Clinique Happy and I thought it was so fresh, plus I love the name. And it seems whenever I compliment someone on their perfume it just so happens to be from Jo Malone. So one day maybe I will have to get a bottle of that myself and hope I don’t sneeze.

Tell us one of your bad habits? This reminds me of a #tellthetruththursday episode like I do on my Snapchat each week. Well, actually now that I have the chance, I’ll put it out there and admit to being a nail biter! Gross huh? I know!  But I deal with anxiety (duh, I have a son in the U.S military so that is one reason) and somehow biting my nails at times gives me relief.  However, I have given it up for lent like I did last year. And the incentive is the same as last year. When lent is over, the nails grown, I will get a manicure.   Because that is something I never get to do.  I usually have a “humanicure” .
