Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

It is HERE! 100! I am so excited I can barely type this! The 100th episode of Woman Crush Wednesday! All of the previous 99 honorees have been special, unique and talented chefs, and today’s WCW recipient is no different. Clare Smyth is so well respected and has worked with big names such as Gordon Ramsey and Heston Blumenthal. But she is making her own mark in the culinary world. She has been honored as best female chef several times including this year. Originally from Northern Ireland, Clare Smyth, owns the award winning London restaurant Core located in Notting Hill. I happened to pass there today and am so proud to dedicate at day to celebrate all Clare’s achievements including her popular restaurant.

My love affair with salads has been firmly accounted for on this blog. A couple of years ago I even devoted a whole week titled “Salad Scentral” with daily recipe posts to get the New Year started off on a healthy note. Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

Another Wednesday has arrived and I am amazed to be honest. Today is the 99th Woman Crush Wednesday episode. I get so much joy out of honoring a female chef each week. When I started this, I never thought about how many there would be, but I just focused on each and every one. Giving them all the love they deserve. These women have inspired me so much, and today’s honoree is BEYOND inspiring. Mashama Bailey may be a New Yorker by birth, but she is a Southern girl at heart. She puts soul into every dish and just wait until you see what recipe of hers I am going to re-create today!

Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

I just love vegetables! I had to put that out there, and it will make sense in a minute. But what I love most is my weekly homage to the female chefs in the culinary world. Wednesday is more than a hump day to mark the slide towards the weekend. For me it is the focal point of the week. I get so much joy honoring a gorgeous gourmet gal by recreating one of her recipes live on Snapchat (username blissbakery). But today’s episode, number 97 if you are counting, is especially dear to me because of the incredible chef Nyesha Arrington!

Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

I’m not sure about you, but we are having lovely warm weather here in London. Which means I am craving some light and healthy salads!  And today’s Woman Crush Wednesday honoree chef Lynda Booth is going to save the day. Especially since it is a quick and easy recipe for her Grated Carrot and Beetroot Salad.  Because if you’re like me, some weekdays are hectic! With work and errands it leaves little time to get a meal on the table. So paired with a nice piece of fish, I am counting on this salad to be a 100 yard dash dinner winner!

Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

Today is the 81st episode of Woman Crush Wednesday and you might recognize the honoree. Londoner Sally Butcher is not only well known for her fabulous cookery books, but also her amazing shop in Peckham called Persepolis and the darling cafe that adjoins it. In fact, if you watch my Foodie Fieldtrip Friday segment on my Snapchat (username blissbakery) you won’t be surprised that I have chosen Sally as my WCW. Just two weeks ago I visited and feasted on some of her amazing Persian food.  And I purchased a key ingredient for today’s awesome cooking tutorial. Continue reading

Recipe: Beggin’

I have a recipe to share with you today.  It is an easy Brussels Sprout side dish that is so good it will leave you beggin’ for more!  But before I get your lips smacking, I have a story to share with you. In fact I’ve wanted to share it for ages but couldn’t decide on a title. One idea was Panhandling (another name for begging).  Another was “Are you excited to see me or is that a rifle in the back seat?”  But that one sounded too far fetched. But this is a story about begging people for money and the scary situation that led to the rifle incident. Continue reading
