Today’s Woman Crush Wednesday needs no introduction to anyone who is privy to the foodie scene in London. Angela Harnett is a giant in the culinary world here in the Big Smoke. She worked her way up through the most prestigious kitchens and under heavyweights such as Gordon Ramsey and Marcus Wareing. But it would appear her greatest culinary inspiration came from closer to home.
“Pick me! Pick me!” Those were her first words to me. Well she didn’t actually say those words but that is what she meant. Her body language confirmed that as she jumped in my lap and licked my face. I never liked doggie kisses before, but somehow I accepted hers. She was doing everything she could to make sure I did pick her. I remember that day, the day I picked her, like it was yesterday. Only the real yesterday, as in Tuesday March 13th, she said something else. She said, “Release me, release me”. And at 7:00pm as my husband and I held her tight, we released her soul and felt it scamper to the Rainbow Bridge. Continue reading
Welcome back to, you know it, my fav day of the week! Whoop whoop! Woman Crush Wednesday, where each week I choose a female chef and re-create one of her recipes live on Snapchat (username blissbakery). Not on Snapchat? No biggie. I will be sharing the recipe, photos, and information about my Woman Crush Wednesday recipient on this here blog. I call it a LOVE story. Because first of all I love LOVE! Secondly, because don’t think this #timesup is just about Hollywood gender disparity. Working in the culinary world I have seen it in this industry for far too long. That is why I created this special day back in September 2015 to honor and share the love for awesome female chefs kicking butt in the foodie world. And my 85th WCW is the phenomenal Suzanne Goin. I feel super blessed that Yankee Doodle Paddy Guest Blogger Month of LOVE series received more submissions than days in February. Hence this is Post #29 and it is a fun one too. The engaging Eric, the fourth man to bravely share his story this month, has a heart pumping tail for you. And no, that wasn’t a typo. I said tail, though it is very much like a fairy tale. However, once you start reading you’ll see there is a tail in the tale!
Guest Blogger Post #27 is by the awesome Cath aka Battlemum. I mean with a name like that of course she is awesome! Cath was one of my early Snapchat friends. Another Irish living abroad, she and I had the pleasure of meeting when she came to London for a blogger convention. We hit it off instantly and she even joined me on my weekly adventure called Foodie Fieldtrip Friday. So I was delighted when she agreed to participate in the Month of LOVE series and share a very sweet story. It is especially meaningful to me, being that I have a son, and that my favorite book of all time is quoted in the opening line!
Love KNOWS no bounds. I’ll repeat that: LOVE knows NO bounds! By that I mean, all of us can experience it. Young or old, strong or weak, men or women, sick or well, feeling high or at our lowest, it doesn’t matter, ‘cuz love knows no BOUNDS. If you watch commercials around Valentine’s Day they always show this perfectly curated sort of love. Everyone looks pristine and happy, financially secure (of course, so you can buy those diamonds), and healthy. However, often it is when we are none of those “Madison Avenue” creations that we need love the most. Today I am sharing with you two amazing people who have been brave enough to come forward for the Guest Blogger Month of LOVE. For Post #26 I am sharing the love stories of the beautiful Kerry and the lovely Paul. They have both had a rough go in life. They deal with health issues and yet still continue to love. Part of that is because they have been shown love to them. When many in society run to the hills when someone suffers with mental illness or a physical disability, Kerry and Paul have angels in their lives to prove, yes LOVE exists! I will share Kerry’s powerful love story first and let Paul reveal his after. And please, please, read these with a tender heart. Because one day surely we too will need one!
Today I am going to do something a little different. Due to the fact that I have received more LOVE stories for this Guest Blogger Month than actual days in February, I will have to post a couple stories on a single day. This happened last year as well, seeing as I had 33 guest bloggers. However, for today, I wanted to incorporate two bloggers together in one for Post #24. Why? Well for several reasons. Both Katie and Adrian are bloggers themselves and have published these stories on their own blogs. As individuals, they are more alike than different, as they are both people of substance living a purpose driven life helping others. They defo get what LOVE in action means. And since my own blog is called Yankee Doodle Paddy, this post today embodies that. The amazing Katie is from my birth home, the good old USA! And the awesome Adrian is from my soul home, the emerald isle of Ireland! Continue reading
