Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

I realize that for some this whole Woman Crush Wednesday means something all together different than how I interpret it.  But to each his/her own.  For me this day is a chance to shine the light on a female chef creating some fabulousness in the culinary world. The truth is that even having to say “female” chef is indicative of the fact that when you hear the word chef you think of a man. While most of the Michelin star chefs are indeed men, I have taken this day to create a whole LOVE fest for a fabulous female foodie. I am excited to announce the 88th Woman Crush Wednesday honoree is the gorgeous gourmet gal Tess Ward!

Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

Another Hump Day, another episode of Woman Crush Wednesday. The 87th to be exact.  But today is quite special as the amazing Myrtle Allen is getting honored! Yes the wonderful grandmother of Ireland’s food tourism, the owner of Ballymaloe House and a recipient of a Michelin star!  Myrtle Allen is now 94 years young and while living in County Cork Ireland as a farmer’s wife and rearing six children, she became responsible for putting fine dining and country living together in one sentence.  I had the pleasure of getting to know her while I was a student of the Ballymaloe Cookery School (owned by her daughter in law and WCW honoree Darina Allen).  And today I will be re-creating her fun recipe called “Balloons” from one of her cookery books!  So up, up and away for the tutorial…

Welcome back to, you know it, my fav day of the week! Whoop whoop! Woman Crush Wednesday, where each week I choose a female chef and re-create one of her recipes live on Snapchat (username blissbakery). Not on Snapchat?  No biggie. I will be sharing the recipe, photos, and information about my Woman Crush Wednesday recipient on this here blog. I call it a LOVE story.  Because first of all I love LOVE!  Secondly, because don’t think this #timesup is just about Hollywood gender disparity. Working in the culinary world I have seen it in this industry for far too long. Well the Beast from the East couldn’t put a damper on today’s episode of Woman Crush Wednesday. Recipe: Head Banging Smoothie

I can’t believe it myself, but it is the last day of Smoothie Scentral Week.  That flew by didn’t it? I hope you have been inspired to up your smoothie game and try some of these or make up your own recipes. All you need is a blender and your fav bits and pieces to pop in there. It is healthy, it is fun and much more cost effective then frequenting your local smoothie juice bar. So for the final day, I had to share a banging smoothie! Since I also did a tutorial on my Snapchat account (username blissbakery) I had to have the perfect musical accompaniment. Which also inspired the name of this super delicious liquid awesomeness!

Recipe: Orangerageous Smoothie!

Bear with me on this but I have to share a knock knock joke that my granddaughter and I love…..

Knock, Knock. Who’s there? Banana. Banana who? Knock, Knock.  Who’s there? Banana. Banana who? Knock, knock. Who’s there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?!

Since today’s Smoothie Scentral recipe has oranges and banana, it is safe to say, well this recipe is safe.
