Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

Welcome back to, you know it, my fav day of the week! Whoop whoop! Woman Crush Wednesday, where each week I choose a female chef and re-create one of her recipes live on Snapchat (username blissbakery). Not on Snapchat?  No biggie. I will be sharing the recipe, photos, and information about my Woman Crush Wednesday recipient on this here blog. I call it a LOVE story.  Because first of all I love LOVE!  Secondly, because don’t think this #timesup is just about Hollywood gender disparity. Working in the culinary world I have seen it in this industry for far too long. That is why I created this special day back in September 2015 to honor and share the love for awesome female chefs kicking butt in the foodie world. And my 85th WCW is the phenomenal Suzanne Goin. But anyway, back to the chocolate…most people think of chocolate eggs or Easter baskets busting with chocolate candy as the perfect way to break their fast. But I have a recipe that will blow those out of the water! Continue reading

Recipe: As Easy as Apple Pie

If you were a type of pie what would you be?  My granddaughter Harper gave me a lovely little book for Christmas called “What I LOVE About You Grandma”.   On each of the 50 pages there is a prompt sentence and a place where she could write her response.  They all brought so much joy to me when I read them.  But one page in particular gave me a chuckle. “Grandma if you were a pie you’d be…” and she wrote “apple”. Recipe: Apples, Apples, Apples

Because of travel and other commitments I haven’t done a Saturday Cookreel Snapchat take over in a few weeks.  But I’ve been meaning to share this recipe with you from a takeover I did when I was in the U.S. recently visiting my daughter and her family.  In fact, this recipe is actually from her blog In Her Chucks. Though the blog is dormant for the moment with her mommy and work duties, is is loaded with great recipes.  Like this one for Apple Crisp.  Continue reading

Recipe: Black and White Baby Bakes

Living in Los Angeles for many years, I would have dined at the famous Cheesecake Factory on a number of occasions.  But I never actually ate a cheesecake there.  Because their food portions are so large I was usually too full for dessert.  I know, for a sweet tooth like me that says a lot!  On one visit there I did order a slice of cheesecake, but asked for it in a “to go/take away” container.   Then I tucked into it later on that evening, with help of course.  It too was so big!  We Americans do like our super sized portions!  However, it got me to thinking that it would be fun to have a mini sized cheesecake. One that didn’t leave you feeling so full and/or guilty!  And since I am a cupcake aficionado I thought why not do a mash up of the two!?  Oh yea! Continue reading
