Today is the 81st episode of Woman Crush Wednesday and you might recognize the honoree. Londoner Sally Butcher is not only well known for her fabulous cookery books, but also her amazing shop in Peckham called Persepolis and the darling cafe that adjoins it. In fact, if you watch my Foodie Fieldtrip Friday segment on my Snapchat (username blissbakery) you won’t be surprised that I have chosen Sally as my WCW. Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

If you haven’t noticed by now, I try to balance out the recipes on Yankee Doodle Paddy with some naughty and some nice.  I am not a vegan or vegetarian but I do enjoy eating and cooking that way from time to time.  I try not to eat too much dairy,  but since butter is one of my fav things in life I do allow it, when it is worth it.  Well today’s recipe is one of those days!  It is the 78th edition of Woman Crush Wednesday and our gorgeous gourmet gals (yes plural) are Martha Swift and Lisa Thomas of Primrose Bakery here in London. Recipe: Beggin’

I have a recipe to share with you today.  It is an easy Brussels Sprout side dish that is so good it will leave you beggin’ for more!  But before I get your lips smacking, I have a story to share with you. In fact I’ve wanted to share it for ages but couldn’t decide on a title. One idea was Panhandling (another name for begging).  Another was “Are you excited to see me or is that a rifle in the back seat?”  But that one sounded too far fetched. But this is a story about begging people for money and the scary situation that led to the rifle incident. Continue reading
