Hello to all of you including those of you who might be suffering from a “Holiday Hangover”. You know that feeling, going back to work the day after New Years with the added guilt placed upon us about our over indulgences. Well our celebrations were fun while they lasted but who says you have to go on a DIET? I for one try to avoid things with the word DIE in it! I like to LIVE it! So you won’t be getting a clean eating regimen or a workout routine from me, but I do have a little surprise.
Two years ago I did a week of salad recipes for the New Year. I called it Salad Scentral and it was a big hit! Last year it was Soup Scentral and once again people loved a week of soup recipes. This year I decided to do a week of Smoothie recipes! The reason I use “Scentral” is that I’ve made up a word the mashes central with scent because I am sharing recipes that are central to feeling healthy and include a bountiful bunch of colors, flavors and scents! Not boring diet food that makes you feel deprived!
Now the trick with smoothie recipes is often people think it is a weather dependent thing. Truly savored when it is hot outside. I get that cuz at least here in London it is cold, damp and grey. Defo more of soup weather. However, I feel like the vitamins and nutrition added to our bodies with one smoothie will help keep us ready to take on the cold weather and avoid the near chance of catching a cold bug. Since Hubby and I both got a wicked dose before the holidays I could have used some of Smoothie Scentral week recipes then!
You don’t need a juicer for these recipes but the only caveat is that you will need some sort of blender. All the recipes will be super simple and quick and will be very delicious. I found smoothies to be a great way to get my kids to eat more fruit and veggies when they were younger . It feels like a shake going down, but less “criminal”! Making smoothies at home is far more economical than going to a juice shop too. When Hubby and I visited Moon Juice in Venice Beach for a Foodie Fieldtrip Friday, we paid $11 for one smoothie! The good news, these will be a fraction of that. So let’s get going!
Blueberry Butter Bomb
Ingredients
1 punnet of Blueberries (fresh or frozen) approx 1 cup)
1 ripe Banana (frozen)
1/2 ripe avocado
1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
*1 Tbsp Honey (if you are using a very ripe banana you won’t need to add honey)
1 Tbsp Nut Butter of your choice (I used a 3 nut butter, peanut, cashew, almond)
A generous pinch of ground cinnamon
Instructions
Whizz all ingredients together in a blender until smooth. Hence smoothie! SOOOOO delicious and nutritious!
I will do a round up of all the Smoothie Scentral recipes (as I did before on here) at the end of the week so you can use that for a reference! But until then, hope you enjoy this and the next few posts. Instead of New Year, New You, it is New Year, New Smooth!
Whizzed up LOVE,
YDP
