Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

Well the Beast from the East couldn’t put a damper on today’s episode of Woman Crush Wednesday. What the wild winter weather did do however, is make me crave a hot cuppa and some cake!  So thanks to Yankee Doodle Paddy’s 84th WCW and we have a winner!  Yes Londoner Izy Hossack is famous for her decadent treats, and I knew what I was going to make for today’s tutorial once I spotted the Parsnip Cake on her famous blog Top With Cinnamon

Today’s Woman Crush Wednesday is coming to you from the U.S.A.  I’m here visiting family and enjoying a playcation with my granddaughters.  Being back in the country of my birth makes it a perfect time to honor Christina Tosi.  Not only is she the 82nd WCW recipient but she is also the creator and chef of Milk Bar.  This world famous bakery headquartered in NYC has 8 locations now.  With two cookbooks under her belt, her recipes are very American in their roots.  But Christina is super innovative in her approach to being a pastry chef. She is a fabulous role model for women in the culinary world and I am so excited to honor her today and re-create one of her recipes here and live on Snapchat.  My username is blissbakery if you’d like to come check it out!  Continue reading

Recipe: Homemade Foodie Christmas Gifts

Since I am sicker than a dog today, I am going to have to miss my fav Woman Crush Wednesday series.  Which makes me sad as a bird with no wings!  But since I can’t breathe or swallow (two things I kind of need to be able to do for a cooking tutorial) I figured I’d better take a pass this week.  Stella (who is my dog and who IS healthy) is delighted!  Since she hates Wednesdays and all the loud music and bad singing, she is happy as a clam right now! Geez, I just realized I’m using lots of animal similes.  Anyway, I decided to bring you and me some good cheer….in the form of a new recipe and a round up of some homemade foodie gifts Continue reading

If you haven’t noticed by now, I try to balance out the recipes on Yankee Doodle Paddy with some naughty and some nice.  I am not a vegan or vegetarian but I do enjoy eating and cooking that way from time to time.  I try not to eat too much dairy,  but since butter is one of my fav things in life I do allow it, when it is worth it.  Well today’s recipe is one of those days!  It is the 78th edition of Woman Crush Wednesday and our gorgeous gourmet gals (yes plural) are Martha Swift and Lisa Thomas of Primrose Bakery here in London. But over here in the UK and in my soul home Ireland, it is already full Christmas mode!  People panicking about the Christmas gift list! Well I have a solution! Homemade foodie gifts! And today’s Woman Crush Wednesday is going to sort us out with a delish recipe.  Once baked these festive treats can be wrapped up super pretty.  Helen Goh is today’s gorgeous gourmet gal who has recently published her first book, Sweet, with one of my all time fav chefs, Yotam Ottolenghi.
