This past Saturday was the official day of Chinese New Year.  Though we are living in London, which has one of the top Chinatowns in the world, we didn’t get there to celebrate.  It was a madhouse of crowds!  But I remember the days of celebrating it when I was teaching preschool at a multi cultural school in L.A. We ate Chinese food, did arts and crafts inspired by the rich culture and even had a dragon parade.  Since I was born in the year of the dragon I loved that tradition.  Continue reading

As Easy as Apple Pie

If you were a type of pie what would you be?  My granddaughter Harper gave me a lovely little book for Christmas called “What I LOVE About You Grandma”.   On each of the 50 pages there is a prompt sentence and a place where she could write her response.  They all brought so much joy to me when I read them.  But one page in particular gave me a chuckle. “Grandma if you were a pie you’d be…” and she wrote “apple”. Though today is Wednesday, my favorite day of the week, it feels more like a Monday.  Here in the U.K. it’s the dreaded first day back to work after the Christmas holidays.  But the minute I start my Woman Crush Wednesday cooking tutorial on Snapchat (username blissbakery) all that will change. Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday

I’m back in London and ready to fire up the oven for another edition of Woman Crush Wednesday!  My fav day of the week. Another female chef is going to be getting the love and we are getting an amazing recipe recreated live on Snapchat (my username is blissbakery if you’d like to come watch). With this being the last Wednesday before Christmas we have to make something festive.  But with all the temptations looming, it would be nice to have a not so naughty option.
