I realize that for some this whole Woman Crush Wednesday means something all together different than how I interpret it. But to each his/her own. For me this day is a chance to shine the light on a female chef creating some fabulousness in the culinary world. The truth is that even having to say “female” chef is indicative of the fact that when you hear the word chef you think of a man. While most of the Michelin star chefs are indeed men, I have taken this day to create a whole LOVE fest for a fabulous female foodie. I am excited to announce the 88th Woman Crush Wednesday honoree is the gorgeous gourmet gal Tess Ward!

Another Hump Day, another episode of Woman Crush Wednesday. The 87th to be exact. But today is quite special as the amazing Myrtle Allen is getting honored! Yes the wonderful grandmother of Ireland’s food tourism, the owner of Ballymaloe House and a recipient of a Michelin star! Myrtle Allen is now 94 years young and while living in County Cork Ireland as a farmer’s wife and rearing six children, she became responsible for putting fine dining and country living together in one sentence. I had the pleasure of getting to know her while I was a student of the Ballymaloe Cookery School (owned by her daughter in law and WCW honoree Darina Allen). And today I will be re-creating her fun recipe called “Balloons” from one of her cookery books! So up, up and away for the tutorial…

Today’s Woman Crush Wednesday needs no introduction to anyone who is privy to the foodie scene in London. Angela Harnett is a giant in the culinary world here in the Big Smoke. She worked her way up through the most prestigious kitchens and under heavyweights such as Gordon Ramsey and Marcus Wareing. But it would appear her greatest culinary inspiration came from closer to home.

Welcome back to, you know it, my fav day of the week! Whoop whoop! Woman Crush Wednesday, where each week I choose a female chef and re-create one of her recipes live on Snapchat (username blissbakery). Not on Snapchat? No biggie. I will be sharing the recipe, photos, and information about my Woman Crush Wednesday recipient on this here blog. I call it a LOVE story. Because first of all I love LOVE! Secondly, because don’t think this #timesup is just about Hollywood gender disparity. Working in the culinary world I have seen it in this industry for far too long. That is why I created this special day back in September 2015 to honor and share the love for awesome female chefs kicking butt in the foodie world. And my 85th WCW is the phenomenal Suzanne Goin. Well the Beast from the East couldn’t put a damper on today’s episode of Woman Crush Wednesday. What the wild winter weather did do however, is make me crave a hot cuppa and some cake! So thanks to Yankee Doodle Paddy’s 84th WCW and we have a winner! Yes Londoner Izy Hossack is famous for her decadent treats, and I knew what I was going to make for today’s tutorial once I spotted the Parsnip Cake on her famous blog Top With Cinnamon

Long time no cook my friends! I know, between traveling in the USA, the beginning of Lent, and hosting the Guest Blogger Month of LOVE, I haven’t been on to share a recipe in a while. However today all that is about to change. My fav day of the week on the blog and my fav Snapchat episode will collide once again for a Woman Crush Wednesday installment! I will do a live cooking tutorial on Snapchat (username blissbakery) and share a LOVE story for a fabulous female chef! Today’s lucky lady and the 83rd chef to get this honor is Prue Leith!

Today’s Woman Crush Wednesday is coming to you from the U.S.A. I’m here visiting family and enjoying a playcation with my granddaughters. Being back in the country of my birth makes it a perfect time to honor Christina Tosi. Not only is she the 82nd WCW recipient but she is also the creator and chef of Milk Bar. This world famous bakery headquartered in NYC has 8 locations now. With two cookbooks under her belt, her recipes are very American in their roots. But Christina is super innovative in her approach to being a pastry chef. She is a fabulous role model for women in the culinary world and I am so excited to honor her today and re-create one of her recipes here and live on Snapchat. My username is blissbakery if you’d like to come check it out! Continue reading
