Baker’s Dozen: Thirteen Utensils I Can’t Live Without In My Kitchen

Have you ever heard of the term Baker’s Dozen?  We know that a dozen equals twelve of something and we see it in our daily life, such as shopping for a dozen eggs or a dozen roses .  There are also reminders we see in the our world around us such as the 12 months on the calendar .  But a baker’s dozen is thirteen of a something, usually baked goods. Why? Continue reading

Full Circle

It is so strange how life works.  I love it when I see things come full circle.  In an earlier post here on the blog I shared with you why in this day and age I wasn’t on Facebook.  I said, blame in on Napolean Dynamite!  Because in the film the famous line “your mom goes to college” was literally what my son had to deal with on a daily basis when he and I were going to university together.  While I had joined Facebook in its infancy on the urging of other nerdy students looking for study groups, I quickly signed off when my son’s fraternity brothers thought it would be funny to “friend me”.  Continue reading

Woman Crush Wednesday Recap #7

As I won’t be doing a Woman Crush Wednesday episode this week, I thought it would be a good time to do a recap.  There have been eleven WCW honorees since the last recap.  That makes a total of 55 fabulous weeks of the lady chefs getting some love and taking center stage on the blog.  I also re-create one of their recipes live on my Snapchat channel (username: blissbakery).  While those of you who watch will be spared the bad singing and dancing  (my doggie Stella is delighted about that) you might want to have a look at what other culinary creations have been happening thanks to some of my fav female foodies here, here, here, here, and hereContinue reading

I speak often about Bucket List locations. That is because I have an extensive list and it is always evolving.  I tick things off and add more. I don’t ever want to tick off everything because that could only mean one thing.  And “done and dusted” isn’t a phrase I like to use when we are talking about “kicking the bucket”.   So I think that keeping the list flowing is a way to stay young, active and alive!  Every now and again an experience happens that is a surprise. It’s not on the bucket list, but afterwards I realize it was so special it should have been.  Malta is one of those places. Continue reading

Cuppa Critics

It’s not everyday I can get my Hubby to appear on Snapchat.  But last night he joined me for “Cuppa Critics” where we shared our take on eleven fabulous films.  I was given the “screeners”, as the are called, by Screen Actors Guild to watch before I vote in the upcoming SAG awards. Though I haven’t acted since switching careers to the food industry full time when we moved to Dublin in 2008, I am still a proud card carrying member.  I started acting as a child and in fact have my pension with Screen Actors Guild.  So I take my privilige of voting in this prestigious awards seriously.
