As I won’t be doing a Woman Crush Wednesday episode this week, I thought it would be a good time to do a recap. There have been eleven WCW honorees since the last recap. That makes a total of 55 fabulous weeks of the lady chefs getting some love and taking center stage on the blog. I also re-create one of their recipes live on my Snapchat channel (username: blissbakery). While those of you who watch will be spared the bad singing and dancing (my doggie Stella is delighted about that) you might want to have a look at what other culinary creations have been happening thanks to some of my fav female foodies here, here, here, here, and here. My Heart is Melting for Malta
I speak often about Bucket List locations. That is because I have an extensive list and it is always evolving. I tick things off and add more. I don’t ever want to tick off everything because that could only mean one thing. And “done and dusted” isn’t a phrase I like to use when we are talking about “kicking the bucket”. So I think that keeping the list flowing is a way to stay young, active and alive! Every now and again an experience happens that is a surprise. It’s not on the bucket list, but afterwards I realize it was so special it should have been. Malta is one of those places. Continue reading
Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday
There have been 54 Woman Crush Wednesday recipients since I started this series to honor the wonderful women in the culinary world. It is actually 56 if you consider on one episode there were sisters and another there were partners. But in all that time I believe that today’s WCW is the youngest! Continue reading
Cuppa Critics
It’s not everyday I can get my Hubby to appear on Snapchat. But last night he joined me for “Cuppa Critics” where we shared our take on eleven fabulous films. I was given the “screeners”, as the are called, by Screen Actors Guild to watch before I vote in the upcoming SAG awards. Though I haven’t acted since switching careers to the food industry full time when we moved to Dublin in 2008, I am still a proud card carrying member. I started acting as a child and in fact have my pension with Screen Actors Guild. So I take my privilige of voting in this prestigious awards seriously.
Recipe: As Easy as Apple Pie
If you were a type of pie what would you be? My granddaughter Harper gave me a lovely little book for Christmas called “What I LOVE About You Grandma”. On each of the 50 pages there is a prompt sentence and a place where she could write her response. They all brought so much joy to me when I read them. But one page in particular gave me a chuckle. “Grandma if you were a pie you’d be…” and she wrote “apple”. Continue reading
The Story That Needs to Be Told
LOVE. It is my response to everything and if you’ve known me for even a minute you know that. Some like to say that I am positive and happy and other lovely characteristics. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t get sad, angry or at times even negative. And I have every right to be given the things that have happened to me in my life. But why I want to share this post with you today is no matter if you are happy or sad, positive or negative, your story is YOUR story. If you take anything away from what you are about to read is that YOU should be the one to tell your story. Otherwise someone else will try to tell your story and it will never be as accurate or indeed powerful than if it comes from YOU! Continue reading
Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday
How can it be Wednesday already? I know they say when we get older the time passes quicker but this is light speed since last Woman Crush Wednesday. However, the good news is that it is my favorite day of the week! And with it being the second WCW of the new year, I’m thinking we’d better keep it on the straight and narrow. Everyone I know is eating clean, detoxing and recovering from the holiday binge fest! So our fabulous female chef this week is coming to the rescue! Hooray for Aussie Sarah Wilson. Continue reading
