Someone asked me the other day if Valentine’s Day is my favorite day. Yes it is, but at the same time every day is Valentine’s Day for me. It’s not just a day for romantic love, but even school children get excited to share their little cards with their friends. And maybe if the “Hallmark Holiday” gets people to think about LOVE and it’s iconic symbol (the red heart) even for only one day, then that is better than nothing at all. However, as we have seen thus far during Guest Blogger Month, there are so many ways in which love is manifested in our world. Continue reading

Guest Blogger Month: Post #9
If this is your first day to join the LOVE party let me welcome you. Over here on Yankee Doodle Paddy everyday is all about the love! But in February while the world is in high gear selling flowers, cards and chocolates I thought I would be nice to delve a bit deeper into the subject. I am inviting folks to share my little corner of the internet to give their perspective of love and what it means. The response has been astounding. Not just from the authors who are baring their souls, but from the readers giving supportive comment, likes and shares. So from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! Continue reading
Guest Blogger Month: Post #8
The greatest surprise about hearing these LOVE stories during this guest blogger series on Yankee Doodle Paddy, is how varied and personal each perspective is. What a pure privilege to witness these brave souls opening up, being vulnerable about how and where they have experienced love. Today’s author, fifteen year old Alannah, gives us a glimpse into how her love of the arts have provided an escape from the harsh realities of life. Music, dance, art, so many of these creative channels are a way to harness pain and joy into a tangible form. Continue reading

LOVE, our topic during Guest Blogger Month here on Yankee Doodle Paddy, is thought to be expressed through five different languages: Gift giving, words of affirmation, acts of service, quality time, and physical touch. Today’s author, Eleanor, shares her love story which is a great representation of the physical touch aspect. In a warm and personal piece, we get insight into why a simple hug is so complex in its benefits. Continue reading

It is very humbling to read stories from peoples lives. Each soul has a journey of their own. And to learn from one another, as I said when I kicked off this month of LOVE, is the ultimate in humanity. Enter guest blogger month author #6. Alex is a multi faceted individual. A mom and therapist, a blogger and truth teller. But one thing is definite, she is powerful. We should all be taking notes! Her LOVE story is a symbolic of bamboo. It bends but doesn’t break! Guest Blogger Month: Post #5
I hope you have been enjoying this guest blogger series so far. It is awesome to gain insight into all the different ways LOVE can manifest itself in the world. As much as I bang on about the topic myself, since I’ve been receiving submissions I’ve been in floods of tears. I’m reading some powerful stories my friends and it’s my honor to share them on Yankee Doodle Paddy. Certainly all of us have heard of the line from the marriage vows, “in sickness and in health” well today’s author and her husband have certainly experienced that. Continue reading
Guest Blogger Month: Post #4
How to start a LOVEolution? There is no handbook on that my friends. But as I shared on February 1st, this is the month of LOVE so if it is going to happen, this might be as good a time as any for it to transpire. Because our love stories are so unique, just as our own fingerprints are, we can learn from all of them. Yet often people aren’t encouraged to share them publicly. So we let modern culture dictate to us what love is. And when we compare our love to what we see in magazines we might not appreciate it as much. Continue reading
