Today is Labor Day in the U.S.A. Though I have lived away from America since 2008 I am still keenly aware of all the holidays and traditions that go with it. I miss my family full stop! Thank goodness for FaceTime and especially trips home. But my visits back don’t always coincide with certain holidays and I actually pine for the many activities associated with them. Okay let’s face it I mainly miss the food associated with the holidays. And to me Labor Day means the end of summer and eating things such as BBQ, pulled pork sandwiches, salads galore, and some gooey, naughty treat! While I won’t be able to do that today, I did get to recreate an early Labor Day meal recently at the incredible Outsider Tart here in London. Continue reading

Welcome back to Woman Crush Wednesday. It is always a fabulous day when I can honor a female chef doing amazing things in the culinary world. Today’s recipient of the 98th WCW episode is Lidia Bastianich. A giant in the gastronomic world. A chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, television star, you name it, Lidia’s done it. Recipe: Secret Ingredient Turkey Burgers
It is a bank holiday Monday here in London, so an end of summer BBQ is in order!!! Hubby won’t eat red meat so I usually make ordinary turkey burgers. But I made some turkey burgers with zucchini in them the last time I was visiting my daughter and family in the USA. They were very good! I don’t remember my daughter’s recipe source, so I had to re-create something on the fly. But they turned out delicious…moist, flavorful and healthy! Continue reading
Happy Third Blog Birthday!
Three years have come and gone. They would have anyway. The days, weeks and months pass by on our calendar. The question is, what do we have to show for it? Have you ever stopped to think about it? That is why I love to recognize milestones, birthdays, holidays etc. These moments punctuate our lives for a reason. They give us a chance to take stock and see where we have come, and please God, where we have yet to go AND grow! Much has happened in my life during these three years. Some good, some bad. But today, I am going to highlight an area where I have had an influence and that is with this little old blog called Yankee Doodle Paddy! Continue reading
Recipe: Woman Crush Wednesday
I just love vegetables! I had to put that out there, and it will make sense in a minute. But what I love most is my weekly homage to the female chefs in the culinary world. Wednesday is more than a hump day to mark the slide towards the weekend. For me it is the focal point of the week. I get so much joy honoring a gorgeous gourmet gal by recreating one of her recipes live on Snapchat (username blissbakery). But today’s episode, number 97 if you are counting, is especially dear to me because of the incredible chef Nyesha Arrington!

However, it turned out to be another warm and sunny day here in London. And even though I was cooking away in a kitchen all day, I couldn’t wait to get home to my own kitchen. Why? Hello!! It is Wednesday and you know it’s my favorite day of the week! I get to shower another fabulous female foodie with LOVE and get to try one of her recipes! My 96th Woman Crush Wednesday is the awesome Anita Lo! Continue reading
